PLAYGROUNDS: DEUCE
Deuce is the moment in a game when balance is restored. Neither side leads; tension suspends resolution. The exhibition takes this state as its curatorial starting point.
Throughout the space, a tennis net stretches through the centre at regulation height, dividing the exhibition into a temporary playing field. It does not divide, protect, or instruct. Instead, it marks a boundary of play pushed to the periphery, framing the works while remaining transparent. Scattered tennis balls on the floor signal residue rather than action: traces of movement, repetition, and effort, without spectacle.
The game has already happened, or is perpetually about to begin.
PLAYGROUNDS: DEUCE proposes the exhibition space as a site of cross-disciplinary play, where artists operate between control and intuition, structure and imagination. The net becomes a metaphor for exchange: a porous threshold where meaning travels back and forth. Looking is no longer passive. Gaze, emotion, memory, and projection return the work’s gesture, creating a subtle back-and-forth between creator and viewer.
