Who we are
PLUS-ONE Projects and A.P./Studio are the renewed start of PLUS-ONE Gallery.

From our space on Vlaamsekaai in Antwerp we work as entrepreneurs in art, deliberately looking for models that go beyond the classic gallery representation format. That means exhibitions in our own space, but also projects extra muros, curatorial and strategic consultancy, and self-initiated projects and services where contemporary art and technology meet.

We are a small, entrepreneurial team that moves fast. As a result you sit close to both the content and the decisions from day one: from research and concept through to communication, budget and realisation.

One of our ongoing trajectories is a multi-year research and exhibition project around Keith Haring and his Belgian connections, developed with an institutional partner. That project forms a core part of this internship.


What we are looking for
We are looking for an intern who takes on the front-of-house of the gallery three days a week, and who uses the time between visitors to work specifically on the Keith Haring project.

Front of house and daily operations;

• Welcoming visitors, clients and collectors, and informing them about the current exhibition, the artists and our practice.

• Being the first point of contact in the space, as well as by phone and email.

• Keeping the space well presented and in order (press kits, hand-outs, publications).

• Supporting openings, artist talks and events.

Keith Haring project;

• Processing and structuring the research phase: bringing together sources, archive material, images and interviews into a workable dossier.

• Contributing to the preparation of the communication: texts, press material, social media planning, content build-up towards the exhibition.

• Supporting the activation of the exhibition: public moments, partnerships, side programming.

• Administrative follow-up of the project: budget monitoring, timing and planning, action lists, follow-up of agreements with partners.

• Contributing to the preparation of our planned exhibition programme for 2027.

You will have a clearly defined set of responsibilities of your own and will work directly with the directors.

Skills and profile
A background in art history is explicitly not a requirement. Above all we are looking for someone with a genuine passion for contemporary art and communication with a strong work ethic.

• You are studying communication sciences, marketing, cultural management, art sciences, history, journalism, business studies or a related field.

• You have a demonstrable interest in contemporary art and culture.

• You are accurate, organised and able to take a task through to completion independently.

• You write fluent and correct English; Dutch is a strong asset and French is a plus.

• You can bring structure to large amounts of loose information (research, sources, image material).

• You are comfortable with digital tools: Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), social media, and you are not put off by straightforward budget and planning files.

• You can work with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); Canva, Figma or comparable tools are also welcome.

• Experience with newsletters, website management is a plus.

• You communicate well, are hospitable, and feel comfortable around visitors, artists and collectors.

• You dare to take initiative and ask questions within a small team.

• You are flexible at key moments such as openings and events.

• Duration: 3 days per week, in consultation with your school.

• Status: unpaid internship as part of an academic programme (internship agreement via your institution).
